Martial Styles: Tai Chi, Ba Gua, Arnis, Kung Fu
Are you looking for an internal meditative martial art that reduces stress and promotes correct posture and physical fitness? Or, are you looking for an external combative martial art that teaches you the fundamentals of open hand or weapons self-defence? Or are you just looking to have FUN? The following is a quick synopsis of the styles that Josh teaches.
In short I teach these martial arts:
- Cheng Sher Ba Gua Zhan (Kung Fu)
- Arnis / Escrima (Filipino Martial Arts)
- Tai Chi (Yang Style), Chi Gong
- Basic Self-Defence (a mixture of Arnis, Kung Fu, Close Quarter Combat, etc.)
For more information on these styles please see below:
Tai Chi, Ba Gua, Chi Gong
Styles such as Tai Chi, Ba Gua, and Chi Gong are traditional Chinese internal martial arts. An "internal" martial art is one that focuses on the meditative aspects of martial training. These martial arts are EXCELLENT for reducing stress, improving posture, and total body well being. When trained correctly, they can also be used quite well for self-defence.
Mostly, Tai Chi is used for stress relief and total body health. However, I also train Ba Gua for full contact martial arts fighting. If you are interested in stress relief, or more traditional martial arts training, contact us today! [Read More about Tai Chi]
Arnis, Escrima, Stick Training
Arnis stick training is FUN!
Arnis / Escrima is a traditional martial art from the Philippines. Unlike other martial arts, Arnis focuses on weapons training from the beginning. Arnis weapons include stick, paired stick, knife and machete. The training is partnered and the drills can become quite routine. Don't let that fool you however, those are just the drills. If trained for fighting, Arnis is s very effective martial art. [Read more about Arnis stick training]
Self-defence (Close Quarter Combat, Kung Fu, Arnis)
Josh also teaches basic, moderate, and advanced open hand self-defence using techniques he has picked up in these various martial arts: external style kung fu, kickboxing, Mui Thai, Ba Gua, Tai Chi, Arnis, Jeet Kun Do, JuJitsu, grappling, and more. [for more info on self-defence seminars or lessons check here]

*Note: Harder martial arts training is not for everyone. Josh takes great steps to make sure ALL students are comfortable and there is as little contact with other students as possible. However, if you are interested in traditional martial training (which naturally includes moderate to full contact practice) Josh has the gear and would love to train with you.
